It might seem logical that a site called Spirit BEAR Yoga would feature its namesake in its first animal-related blog post; instead, we have given the honor to a different four legged critter: the dog. Although we at Spirit Bear Yoga do admire and try to emulate bear wisdom, we’re definitely smitten with the canine.
Since it’s National Dog Day (or so we discovered after checking Facebook and Instagram today) we wanted to take a moment to recognize the dogs in our lives.
Despite Emily's love for her two dogs, she will readily admit that Tara’s Shakti is the brainiest of the pack. Emily has tried to train her two dogs, Toby & McGruder, but she is a bit of a push-over when it comes to giving treats. As a result, her pups have gained weight, but not the capacity to do many tricks. So, maybe her pups are smarter than she gives them credit for, as they have done quite well in training her.
Shakti is also the most well-travelled of the dogs, as she has accompanied Tara on moves across states, road trips, and hiking adventures. Emily’s dogs struggle with the 5-mile car trip to the vet for check-ups. This certainly will not be the last post about these Spirit Bear Yoga dogs, but we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce these special four-legged friends to our readers today.
National Dog Day is also a great opportunity for Spirit Bear Yoga to share our support for the positive role dogs can have in the lives of humans. We have chosen to donate a portion of the sale of Spirit Bear wear to KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. This organization helps to train and place service, guide, and facility dogs to those in need.
